Winter Depression
When someone talks about winter depression, it is almost certain that one mentions only the luminous intensity factor. There are even companies which make special light bulbs for combating winter depression. The considerable degree of failure of the light therapy is a clear hint for us to search for a more holistic and less commercial approach to this problem, for there are many factors, related directly or indirectly to the climate, which can diminish one´s joy during the winter.
1) Temperature can have a greater influence than luminosity over one´s emotions. People who have practiced weight- training in cities of great thermal amplitude must have already noticed the following : When temperature falls rapidly, the last repetition of a given set can hardly be completed, unless the weight is diminished.A person who has notions of orthomolecular medicine knows that something which affects one physically usually affects him/her psychologically; therefore, if temperature can affect the physical performance, it can also affect the psychological one. Temperature influences the speed of chemical reactions and one´s joy depends on some of these reactions.We can cite the production of dopamine. Accordingly, one should try not only not to be cold during the winter, but also to be a little warm. Bearing in mind that most energy is lost through the extremities of the body, one should use gloves and caps when temperature gets very low.
2) The oxygen percentage indoors can be drastically reduced in the winter, due to the measures which people take against the cold. Many people complain about sadness and tiredness on overcast winter days. Besides the decreases in the thermal and in the luminous energy fluxes, there can be a devastating reduction in the gaseous energy flux through the following mechanism : In order for them to protect themselves from low temperatures, people usually shut all the windows at home . This measure causes a considerable decrease in the amount of oxygen, which _ in addition to eventual gas leakages_ can cause sleepiness, sadness,tiredness and even death. This mechanism can be particularly dangerous for people who live alone and who seldom leave home, for they usually get used to the smell of gas. Because of this, it is advisable to ask someone (who does not live with you ) to check whether there is gas smell indoors.
Air conditioners do not exchange air adequately with the outer environment; therefore, one should keep the windows open for some minutes, several times per day.
3) There is a natural tendency to ingest fewer tropical fruit during the winter, substituting high caloric concentration food for them. But the latter are usually very poor _ or completely deficient _ in fibers, which can harm the bowel movements seriously:
Liquid Energy Flux
One of the main causes of many people’s unhappiness and tiredness is the intoxication of their bloodstreams, which is generally caused by slow bowel movements. One of the main factors that can lead to slow bowel movements is low water intake, for the body starts to absorb an excessive amount of water from the excrements, making them dry. This , in turn, increases the friction with the intestine membranes. When one starts to be thirsty, one has already lost 2% of his/her bodyweight in the form of water. Therefore, one must drink more water than the amount that is usually determined by thirst and one must keep one’s urine always clear. The ideal is to have daily bowel movements, always at the same time, with soft, wet and not very clear excrements. Dry and brittle excrements are a sign of low water and/or fiber intake.( Topic of the Solid Energy Flux section.) This is one of the most important parts of this book, for the maximum level of happiness and inner peace depends on perfect bowel movements. Always check the amount and the state of your excrements before flushing them. Check also the frequency of your bowel movements.This unusual habit can avoid a lot of suffering.In order to confirm the importance of fast bowel movements, one should emphasize that 80% of the serotonine _ substance which is very important to one´s well -being _ are produced in the intestine and not in the brain; therefore, a malfunction of the intestine hinders the production of this substance and , consequently , one´s psychological state. Moreover, lack of water can affect the brain, increasing its excitibility, due to the increased salt concentration.
In addition to that, the capacity of neutralizing acids and digesting cereals is diminished during the winter, increasing irritability; therefore, one should eat more sweet fruit ( such as papaya ) and less acid fruit ( such as orange ) . One should also substitute whole cereals for refined cereals ( such as white rice ) in order for one to keep a good fiber intake while decreasing the cereal intake.
4) The production of vitamin D by the skin is diminished in the winter, which, in addition to its lower content in the dairy products produced in this season, decreases the calcium absorption, harming the nervous system. Consequently, one should eat more food rich in vitamin D ( sardine, for example ) and in calcium ( cheese )or take supplements.
5) The four factors mentioned above , along with the smaller incidence of solar rays, weaken one´s aura, making it more vulnerable to psychic attacks, which can turn the winter into a real hell. In order for you to strengthen your aura, you can practice three important exercises :
a) Golden Sphere- Stand up. Imagine a golden sphere as big as a soccer ball, above your head. Say to yourself ( mentally ) that that ball contains the necessary and sufficient energy to purify your physical, etheric, astral and mental bodies. Start to make the sphere enter your head ( losing its original shape ) and go down your body, through your torso and legs. A part of its energy will get out of your fingers ( coming out of your arms ) and another part will enter the ground, coming out of your feet. A part of the golden energy will pass through your physical body and another one will pass through your aura ( energy field that surrounds you ), around 30 cm from your skin. Practice this exercise at least 30 minutes per day ( I suggest10 minutes after each meal ) The more you practice it the stronger your aura will be and the happier and more self-confident you will be.This exercise can cure both physical and emotional problems. I know a person who has cured another one ´s leukemia through the use of this exercise and occult mind reprogramming ( I am still translating the text about this topic ).
b) White Sphere_ Imagine a white sphere of spiritual energy in your solar plexus. Make it grow outwards until its surface is as far as 1 meter from you. You can practice this exercise in almost any place, for some seconds, as many times as you want. You can also use this sphere to protect your cars and other people.In a text which I have not translated yet, I explain why it is less likely for you to be attacked or to suffer accidents when your aura is strong. This law applies for inanimate things too.
c) Tree Bath_ Place your left hand on the trunk of a thick tree for some minutes. This way you will absorb a part of the tree`s energy. Try to practice the white sphere exercise at the same time.

2) Gaseous Energy Flux
What is energy? Leaving formal definitions aside, one can say that energy is the capacity of causing or preventing changes in something or somebody.The reader will perceive the importance of the last part of this definition when he/she reads the psychic self-defense section of this book.
The efficiency of the gaseous energy flux depends on the quality and on the quantity of air that enters the nostrils. Oddly enough, it also depends on the distribution of air between the nostrils.This fact is not known by western physicians because the channels involved in “the phenomenon” are not physical but ethereal.However, the channels “Ida” and “Pingala” have beeen known to Hindhuism for thousands of years. Ida, which is connected to the left nostril in men and to the right nostril in women, provides feminine energy, whereas Pingala, which is connected to the right nostril in men and to the left nostril in women , provides masculine energy.One usually breaths predominantly through one of the nostrils for two hours and then through the other one for two more hours.Allergies , colds and other factors can clog one of the nostrils ( or both of them), causing psychological problems : If there is a lack of feminine energy, one tends to become nervous, violent.If there is a lack of masculine energy, one tends to become sad.There are people who have natural clogs in one of their nostrils. Such people should seek professional help to analyse the possibility of a surgery. Even people whose nostrils are not clogged can benefit from the knowledge about Ida and Pingala. For example, if a male boxer is going to face a bout in ten minutes, he should lie on his left arm for some minutes before the bout in order to activate his right nostril and, thereby, get more masculine energy. If one wants to get calmer, one should
lie on his right arm in order to activate his left nostril. In women the positions are the opposite.
The breathing rhythm is a cause and an effect of the emotional state. An anxious person generally breathes fast and superficially. A person who breaths fast and superficially tends to get anxious. A deep breathing way can increase one`s peace level. Avoid warming up the engine of your car in closed places.
It is advisable to check the work of one`s nostrils periodically, blocking one of them with a thumb and feeling the gaseous flux through the other one.
Withdrawn intestine gases tend to increase irritability and sadness tendencies. Try to release them as soon as possible.
Luminous Energy Flux
The luminous stimulus of the retina has a considerable influence over one`s
energy level.Moreover,sunlight is very important to the strengthening of one ´s aura ( topic of the psychic self-defense section ) If you feel down on overcast days, try to use light bulbs of at least 200 w indoors.There are even more powerful light bulbs in specialized stores . If your problem is lack of sleep, luminosity should be decreased. Colors also influence one`s energy level : red excites, whereas blue calms down.
Thermal Energy Flux
A person who feels cold has a greater tendency to feel sad, lonely or afraid, for he/she loses energy through heat transfer. Bearing in mind that most energy is lost through the extremities of the body, one should use gloves and caps when temperature gets very low.
Liquid Energy Flux
One of the main causes of many people’s unhappiness and tiredness is the intoxication of their bloodstreams, which
is generally caused by slow bowel movements. One of the main factors that can lead to slow bowel movements is low water intake, for the body starts to absorb an excessive amount of water from the excrements, making them dry. This , in turn, increases the friction with the intestine membranes. Therefore, one must drink more water than the amount that is usually determined by thirst and one must keep one’s urine always clear. Dry and brittle excrements are a sign of low water and/or fiber intake.( Topic of the Solid Energy Flux section.) Moreover, lack of water can affect the brain, increasing
its excitibility, due to the increased salt concentration.
Solid Energy Flux
Many middle class people and even rich people have and/or have had nutritional deficiencies in their lives. This shows that adequate nutrition depends not only on income but also on knowledge and discipline. One of the main errors responsible for such deficiencies can be illustrated by reasonings such as the following (wrong): “ I eat beans everyday; therefore, I have the adequate iron intake”. “ I drink milk everyday; therefore , I have neither vitamin D nor
calcium deficiencies.” Further in this book you will see why such reasonings are dangerous. Another mistake which
can lead to serious deficiencies, mainly of iron, vitamin B 12 and complete proteins is adopting the radical vegetarian
diet ( which excludes all animal food ) or the macrobiotic one. Such diets can even provide initial improvements for people whose original diets are poor in fiber and /or in some minerals /or vitamins but, as soon as the iron and /or other nutrients reserves end, the victims of these diets will feel the toll that the latter take. Many people claim that
meat intoxicates one’s blood, but what really intoxicates one’s blood is slow bowel movement, which can happen regardless of one’s meat intake. If one has daily and perfect bowel movements, one should not worry about the effects of meat. If one has poor water and/or fiber intake, even a no-meat diet can intoxicate him/her. The people who have great meat intake are likelier to have lower fiber intake than vegetarians because meat has no fiber, but the former
can make up for this by eating more fruit and vegetables.
Even if one has an adequate intake of all nutrients, one can have problems because of wrong food mixtures or lack of suitable mixtures. This and other topics will be analysed in detail in this section.
Complete Proteins
Complete proteins are the ones that contain the eight essential aminoacids- which cannot be synthesized by the human body.Such proteins can be found basically in animal food, such as : eggs ( the protein with the highest degree of
bioavailability), meat and cheese. Vegetable foods, besides not containing complete proteins in most cases ( whole rice combined with beans provides complete proteins), have a lower protein content and a lower bioavailability than
animal foods.
Comparing eggs, which contain only half the protein content of some cheeses, with roots and tubercles ( such as
potatoes) and with fresh fruit , we can have an idea of the disproportion: eggs- 13% proteins, potatoes- 2% proteins,
fresh fruit ( such as orange)- 1% proteins. Another comparison: meat and cheese- from 20% to 27% proteins, cereals- from 7% to 14% proteins. Moreover, the best animal proteins have a 98% rate of absortion, whereas the best vegetable ones have a 90% rate. Bearing in mind that an average adult needs approximately 1g of complete
proteins per kg of bodyweight per day if he/she is not a bodybuilder and 2g if he/she is a bodybuilder, let us calculate
the amount of mixture of whole rice and beans that a eighty - kilogram -heavy man would need if he did not eat animal
foods: boiled beans- 5,7% of proteins with 90% of bioavailability, which results in a net percentage of 5,13%. The protein content of whole rice is 7,5%, but the percentage of complete proteins of the mixture has to be limited by the
the food with the smallest protein content, since the remaining essential aminoacids of the whole rice will not have their counterparts, not making, thereby, complete proteins. Result : ( 80g * 100) / 5,13 = 1559,45 g for a non- bodybuilder and ( 2* 1559,45) = 3118,90g for a bodybuilder. Have you noticed how absurd these amounts are?
Just for you to have an idea, 3 kg ( which is less than 3118,80g) of this mixture provide about 6000 calories, which
Is much more than the daily caloric need of eighty –kilogram – heavy bodybuilders. If the same bodybuilder obtains
all his complete proteins from swiss cheese ( 27,5% of proteins), he will have to eat approximately ( 160 * 100) /
( 27,5 * 0,98) = 593,69 g, with the respective 2196,66 calories. As you can see, it is very unlikely that diets which exclude animal food provide the daily allowance of complete proteins for non- bodybuilders adults ( let alone for
bodybuilders or growing people). In the case of non- bodybuilders who know how to combine vegetable food to
make complete proteins, there may be even adequate ingestion without caloric excess, but there will probably be
excessive fiber ingestion- which can cause intestine dilation and colon inflammation, besides diarrhea – and excessive
cereal ingestion, which tends to increase irritability.
This detail is very important . Many people could reduce considerably their irritability level by diminishing
their ingestion of cereals and other complex carbohydrates ( rice,bread, pasta, etc). To reach that goal, one should
have one “pan” meal and two meals of cheese and fruit. Here are some amounts of animal foods that are suitable
for an eighty- kilo-heavy-man . The first value of the pair refers to a non- bodybuilder, whereas the second one refers
to a bodybuilder.
320g/640g of meat or
320g/640g of hard cheese or
160 g/ 320g of meat + 160g/ 320g of cheese
People who are not bodybuilders, but who pratice regularly activities which demand considerable muscle tension, also
need more than 1g ( from 1,2 to 1,5g ) of complete proteins for each kilogram of bodyweight. The same holds true for growing people.Babies who are less than one year old may demand up to 4g of complete proteins for each kilo of bodyweight. When
in doubt about the amount that should be ingested, one had beter make a mistake of excess, for this excess will be expelled by the urine or stored as fat ( after the loss of the NH2 group), provided that the kidneys are working well.
Carbohydrates
The simple carbohydrates ( fruit, cheese) provide short- term energy, whereas the complex carbohydrates ( cereals)
provide long- term energy . The ideal is to eat both types of carbohydrates. The ingestion of carbohydrates must be proportional to the ingestion of fat and protein. Important: Never have a meal that contains complete proteins without
adding simultaneously a considerable amount of carbohydrates, for the former may lose their NH2 group and they may be expelled and/or stored as fat, if there is no glucose ( provided by carbohydrates) to process them. If the ingestion of carbohydrates is low for the ingestion of fat, the incomplete metabolism of fat will cause the accumulation
of ketones ( a condition called ketosis), which tend to expelled through urine and through sweat. This may cause
drying and superficial fissuration of the fingertips, which may even bleed in winter ( when the temperature gets lower)
If you have such symtoms, try to decrease the amount of fat and/or to increase the amount of carbohydrates in your
diet. If you are a bodybuilder in the definition phase, you should be especially careful not only to avoid ketosis
but also to avoid diminishing glycogen deposits in your muscles_ and, consequently, water deposits, for each gram of
glycogen which is transported into the muscles takes with it almost 3g of water. This causes loss of biometric measurements . ( The muscles shrink. ) By the way, it is very important to have a meal which is rich in complete proteins and carbohydrates ( preferably complex ones) right after the workout, for in this period the muscles are more receptive to carbohydrates and they are in need of aminoacids for the recovering of their fibers.
C) Fats
Due to the fact that the human body cannot produce some unsaturated essential fatty acids ( linoleic ones), our fat intake should represent at least 3% of our daily caloric consumption. ( preferably natural vegetable fat).If one consumes animal sources of complete proteins, one will hardly have lack of fat in his/her diet.
It is also important that the liver work efficiently to process fats well and to desintoxicate the body of the several metabolism by- products. To reach that goal, one must have an adequate intake of complete proteins, which
Contribute to the recovering of the liver tissue, which tends to form fat deposits in a state of lack of protein.
Moreover, one should avoid as much as possible the ingestion of products which contain food additives, such as ice cream, soft drinks, candies and other delicious products, for they increase the workload of the liver. Alcoholic
Beverages , even when ingested in socially acceptable quantities,tend to create fat deposits in the liver, besides hindering the absortion of vitamin B12 and of some aminoacids.
According to some data published in the eighties , 80% of the Brazilians suffered from hepatic insufficiency. This
Percentage must not have been altered in the last fifteen years. See what the main symptoms of hepatic insufficiency are : headache, slow bowel movements,hard digestion, mainly of fat, pyrosis, flatulence, sour taste in the mouth, bad
Breath, dizziness and paleness. This is one of the main causes of many people `s unhappiness, for a body that suffers from hepatic insufficiency is an intoxicated body, and an intoxicated body cannot be happy.
Many of the main sources of complete proteins have a high fat content ( mainly hard cheeses), but if you do not drink, you do not smoke, you avoid the already mentioned artificial products and you have an efficient liver, you can keep the high fat ingestion that usually accompanies bodybuilders ´ high protein ingestion. If you are not a bodybuilder and you do not meet the other conditions that require a high protein ingestion, you will hardly have problems with your fat intake. On the other hand , if you are a bodybuilder in the definition phase or if you wish to reduce your fat intake to relieve your liver , you can substitute ricotta for hard cheese.( recalculating the ingestions
Of the fat – soluble vitamins A and D , which are scarcely found in ricotta and /or substitute chicken breast for meat.
Thereby you will keep a high protein intake with a moderate fat intake. This would also be good for fat people who
Want to lose weight , for a good protein ingestion helps to avoid that muscle mass loss which is so common in weight loss diets. We should bear in mind that what matters, for aesthetic purposes, is the percentage of bodyfat and not the total amount of fat. A fat man who loses 10 kg _ 9kg of fat and 1 kg of muscles _ can improve his appearance more than if he had lost 20 kg _ 10 kg of fat and 10kg of muscles . By the way , when it comes to weight and its lost, one should notice that many people who evaluate themselves through tables of weight and height may become unsatisfied needlessly. There are several technical explanations for the fact that some people weigh more than they appear. A middle-aged man who trained in a gym in Campinas was 91 kg heavy and 1,83m tall, but he was neither
Fat nor did he have very big muscles. He had just a belly which was not very big. However , he had a very short neck and a long torso. We should bear in mind that the average weight of the torso ( total weigth divided by total length)
Is much greater than the average weight of the neck and it is also greater than the average weight of the legs; therefore, a person who has short legs, a short neck and a long torso usually weighs much more than a person who has long legs, a long neck and a short torso, even being neither fatter nor stronger nor taller.
Moreover, the diameter of the bones can vary greatly from one person to another, which , even if one considers identical bone densities ( something that is not always true),can cause significant weight differences. An indirect consequence of the bone differences is the difference in the weight of the internal organs, which means that a person who has a bigger torso usually has bigger and heavier internal organs ( heart, stomach, liver, etc.).
Another factor which causes weight differences among people is the length of the muscle tendons , for shorter tendons mean longer muscles_ considering the same bone measurement_ which makes the considered bone heavier on average. As a result, two people with identical biometric measurements ( and identical skeletons) can have different weights, for measurements are generally made only in the parts of greatest perimeter in each part of the body, not reflecting ; consequently, the average perimeter of each part. As a case which is opposite to the middle- aged man´s case already mentioned, one can cite the example of a 1,79m tall and 61 kg heavy boy who trained in a gym of Brasília. This boy approached the instructor and asked him how the former`s weight could be so light, considering his height and his physique. The instructor answered that his weight ( the boy`s weight) should be approximately 68 kg and that he should have weighed himself wrongly. Noticing the boy´s security about his previous weighage, the instructor decided to weigh him: result : 61 kg. The instructor, open-mouthed , said : “ Okay, your bones are hollow .“
This statement, in spite of being funny, does not fail to indicate one of the factors responsible for the boy`s light weight _ light bones. Another explanation would be the fact that his torso was short in comparison to his legs and his neck.
Conclusion : One should evaluate his/her physique through mirrors, which are the best judges.The scale should be used to check decreases in bone density and/or protein transfer from soft tissue ( such as the liver tissue) to the muscles, for, in such cases, the biometric measurements could increase without the weight being increased.( An internal weight transfer would be taking place, with no total weight increase. However, if one adopts the adequate ingestion of complete proteins, calcium and vitamin D , there will hardly be the problems mentioned above.
Anyway, one should keep daily bowel movements and weigh himself/herself at the same time every day, not to pass through funny experiences such as the one of a boy who trained in a gym of Florianópolis: He weighed himself
84 kg on a Friday and only 80 kg on the next Monday. He must be one of the people who do not have bowel movements for several days and who take laxatives, losing _ shortly afterwards _ several kilograms of feces.
Fibers
The vegetable fibers ( cellulose, pectin, etc .)_ in spite of not being digestible_ play a very important role in the bowel movements, for they absorb water, being responsible for soft , humid and more voluminous feces, which reduces the friction with the intestine walls and stimulates the intestine contractions ( through the greater volume). These factors enable one to have fast bowel movements and comfortable defecations. Conversely, dry , hard and small feces,besides retarding the bowel movements , cause uncomfortable defecations. The potential physical consequences of this can be found in some nutrition books: diverticulitis, cancer, bleeding, hemorrhoids, etc.
Unfortunately, the emotional consequences of slow bowel movements are not well disclosed: intense irritability and/or sadness, pessimism. This is one of the explanations for the fact that there are people who have everything to be happy, but are unhappy. Poor intestine work, as well as liver work, causes blood intoxication, which hinders energy circulation throughout the body, making one unhappy. This is because_ as the title of this book suggests_ happiness is an energy flux. By the way, poor intestine work overloads the liver and the kidneys. Fiber ingestion must be proportional to the ingestion of animal foods, which usually have no fiber or almost no fiber, such as : meats, cheeses and eggs. Moreover,
Fibers must be ingested in all meals. Fibers are present basically in fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Try to substitute whole rice and whole grains for white rice and refined grains. Besides having a good fiber content, the last ones are much more nutritive. For example, one may say that _ in a meal with 200g cheese_ the fruit amount must be 300g or more ( pears and/or apples with skin, oranges with husk, raisins, etc ). The best indicator of the appropriateness of the ingested fiber amount and/or water amount is the feces consistency : If the feces are hard, one must increase the amount of ingested fiber and /or water, even if only an initial segment of the feces is hard and the rest is soft. The piece of feces that reaches the rectum first has had more time to be dehydrated by the intestine. If you do not manage to take the necessary fiber amount every day , buy fibers in a drugstore and take them with water during the meals. Beware of the excess of fibers too, for it may cause diarrhea and intestine irritation, besides hindering the absorption of some nutrients.
E) Minerals and Vitamins
Even small deficiencies of some minerals and vitamins, mainly iron and group “b” vitamins may limit one `s capacity of being happy, joyful and of having peace. Almost nobody calculates the nutritional content of his/her diet, which _ in addition to the existence of refined foods with very low nutritional content_ makes many people suffer
from anemia ( lack of iron ) in varied degrees, besides other diseases associated with the lack of other minerals and vitamins.
Vitamin D
This is the vitamin with the daily allowance which is most difficultly reached only through alimentation. There must be some exposition to sunlight in order for the skin to produce this vitamin and for it to complement the ingested amount. This is especially valid for children, adolescents, pregnant women and sucking babies. A solution for people who do not sunbathe would be the ingestion of 200g sardine per week. Cheeses, eggs and liver are some foods which contain good quantities of this vitamin. In the winter the lack of this vitamin is more likely , for _ besides there being less solar illumination _ milk and its derivatives have a more reduced content of the mentioned vitamin. Fortunately , vitamin D _ being fat soluble _ can be stored in considerable amounts, which makes its lack not very common in adults. The lack of this vitamin causes problems in bones and teeth due to the bad absorption of calcium.
Since calcium is one of the tranquillizers of the nervous system, a vitamin D deficiency may increase one´s irritability, which would be one of the explanations for the emotional changes that many people suffer in the winter. On the other hand , long use of specific supplements may cause anorexia, sleepiness, throw-ups, headache,diarrhea and calcium
deposits in some organs.
The daily allowance of vitamin D may be reached through one of the following options :
1200g of cheese;
150g of egg yolk;
200g of tuna;
270g of shrimp;
1180g of crude ox - liver;
30g of canned sardine;
4g of cod -liver oil.
Vitamin C
Despite being water - soluble,vitamin C can be stored up to 5g in the human body, which would be sufficient to some months of deprivation. Nevertheless,Ne should try to ingest it daily, for one generally knows neither how one`s reserves are nor what one`s urine excretion level of this vitamin is. People who eat almost exclusively animal products and/or artificial ones should be especially cautious about the deficiency of this vitamin. Since the mother milk is poor in vitamin C, mothers shoul give fruit juice to their babies since the age of two months. Options to reach the daily allowance of vitamin C :
100g of orange;
100g of lemon;
20g of guava;
150g of paapya;
500g of banana;
200g of ox-liver;
30g of garden parsley;
600g of lettuce;
220 of boiled potatoes.
Delayed cicatrization of wounds,painful and bloated joints and weakness may be symptoms of vitamin C deficiency.
Vitamin A
Like vitamin D, this vitamin may harm one through its deficiency and its excess. Night blindness and skin problems may be effects of vitamin A deficiency,whereas generalized itching, bone pain, hair fall, yellowish skin and headache may be symptoms of excess of this vitamin. The daily allowance of this vitamin may be reached through one of the following options :
10g of fried ox-liver;
200g of papaya;
500g of banana;
350g of hard cheese;
850g of watermelon;
65g of boiled potato.
Vitamin E
Due to its broad distribution in the western man's diet, its deficiency hardly occurs.
The other Vitamins
The daily allowance of the remaining vitamins depend on the daily caloric intake and/or on the ingestion of tryptophan ( component of proteins ) and /or on the synthesis made by intestine bacteria. In general terms , one should ingest whole grains , meat and cheese, and avoid antibiotics in order to guarantee a proper supply of the remaining vitamins.
We can cite the example of the symptoms related to one of the vitamins B ( riboflavin ) : fissure of the mouth corners, sensation of sand in the eyes, visual fatigue, photophobia, hypervascularization of the eyes , seborrhoeic dermatitis of the nose. Deficiency of the vitamins B may cause serious psychological problems.
Iron
This is the mineral whose deficiency is most likely ( mainly among people who loose blood regularly ),for only from 10% to 26%
of the daily consumed amount is generally absorbed. Meat is the kind of food which contains iron in its most absorbable form. Iron deficiency is characterized by the following symptoms: paleness,headache, constant tiredness, palpitation and dyspneia ( difficulty to breath ) after exercises.Since maternal milk has small quantities of this mineral, pregnant women must be especially careful about the consumption of this mineral , in order for the iron transference through the placenta to produce sufficient reserves for the baby`s first months of life.The excess of iron may cause : gray pigmentation of the skin, liver problems and cardiac insufficiency. The daily allowance of this mineral may be reached through one of the following options :
200g of ox liver;
500g of sardine;
300g of chestnut;
400g of flaked oats;
450g of raisins;
1500 of hard cheese;
400g of boiled meat;
700g of boiled beans;
700g of boiled peas;
100g of beer leaven;
500g of eggs;
Calcium
A good absorption of this mineral depends on vitamin D, which has already been discussed. A deficiency of calcium causes
osteoporosis and irritability.Its daily allowance can be satisfied through one of the following options:
150g of hard cheese;
600g of flaked oats;
400g of dry almond;
250g of sardine;
1/2 boiled egg shell ( well chewed );
500g of water cress;
Iodine
3g of iodined salt usually satisfies the daily allowance of this mineral, which is utilized in the production of the thyroidal hormone.
One should avoid eating cabbage, rutabaga and other members of the Brassica family, which contain a harmful substance to the synthesis of that hormone.
The remainning minerals
In a well-planned diet_ which satisfies all the daily allowances of the above-mentioned vitamins and minerals_ the daily allowances of the remaining minerals are usually satisfied.However, for people who usually sweat profusely and daily and/or who have frequent bleedings, a deeper study of food tables and their nutritional contents.
Acid - base Balance
Some foods, such as meat, eggs and cereals, produce acid by-products,whereas others,such as most fruit and vegetables, produce alcaline by-products. Milk and its derivatives, despite their considerable aminoacid content, usually produce alcaline by-products, due to their high calcium content.The normal blood PH lies between 7,35 and 7,45 ( somewhat alcaline ),but it can be altered by food intake imbalances, which cause physical and psychological problems.If the nourishment is excessively acid, one becomes more nervous; whereas, if it is excessively alcaline, one becomes sadder.
Oddly enough,a person who drinks many glasses of citric fruit juice diminishes his/her resistance against infections, mainly in the winter, when the body´s neutralizing capacity _ of the acids contained in such fruit_ gets lower. It is more adviseable to increase the intake of vitamin C through sweet fruit, such as papaya. Another frequent mistake is taking fruit juices during meals.
ptialine, enzyme which digests starch needs an alcaline medium to work, but , if one drinks fruit juices, one makes the mouth and the pharynx acid, hindering the amid digestion.Even sweet fruit should not be added to the meals which contain cereals or starch, for the former are usually digested in the small intestine, but can remain stuck a long time in the stomach_ causing fermentation_ if they are consumed with cereals and/or starch.
Hypoglicemy and Diet
The emotional state and the intellectual efficiency are much influenced by the glucose level in the blood, for glucose is the fuel of the brain.the foods with a high content of refined sucrose ( white sugar ) and even some natural foods which are absorbed very
quickly, such as fruit juice, make the glucose level of the blood rise too quickly, which cause a great release of insuline by the pancreas, which, in turn , makes the glucose level plummet. The hypoglicemy symptoms are : sadness,dizziness, headache, tiredness, muscle aches, leg cramps, insomnia,nervousness, lack of concentration, tachicardia and suicidal tendences.
In order for one to keep a good glucose level in the blood, one should have meals with complete proteins and cereals, strach or whole fruit ( It is better to avoid juices ). Candies , chewing gum, soft drinks , ice creams and other industrialized products,
besides being harmful to the liver, tend to cause hypoglicemy.
Suggestions of Diet
1° Meal : Hard cheese ( one which contains the smallest amount possible of articial additives ) + Wi, which can be ;
W1: apple = pear;
W2: bananas + raisins;
W3: papaya + raisins;
W4: tangerine;
W5; oranges;
2° Meal : Whole rice + beans +Yi or whole pasta + Yi :
Y1: ox meat;
Y2 : chicken meat;
Y3; boiled eggs;
3° Meal : Similar to the first one.
There must be an interval of at least 4 hours between meals and the food must be well chewed to improve the digestive process. the optimization of the functioning of the intestine and of the liver tens to diminish th eferquency and the intensity of colds, due to the better blood purification.In addition to that, there are theories which state that there is a reciprocal relation between food sensitivities _ or allergies _ and hypoglicemy. This means that if you solve the hypoglicemy problem, you will increase your tolerance to certain foods.The main foods which can cause allegies in some people are: wheat,milk,eggs , fish ( or sea produce ) chocolate,corn,nuts, strawberries,chicken and pig meat. If you are allergic to one of the foods which I suggest in my diet, try to substitute another one which has similar properties for it.One should remember that allergies can also cause psychological problems and that they can be caused by spiritual possession.This last topic will be commented in another section.
If you do not ususally suffer from sour stomach,there is no problem in taking from one to two glasses of water during the meals;however, avoid taking water during the meals and lying after them, in case of sour stomach. The problem is that sour stomach is usually caused by a malfunction of the sphincter which should avoid the reflux of the digestive mass from th estomach to the esophagus and the two habits mentioned above favor such reflux.In my vast bibliographic research I have found some contradictions. The clearest ones were in the field of the acid-alcaline balance, in which one book says that " Our body is naturally a little acid. " whereas another one states that " in a healthy individual the concentration of hydrogen ions of the extracelular fluids is maintained in the 7,35-7,45 range.", which is a little alcaline, for acidity corresponds to levels below 7. A possible way to concile this two apparently contradictory statements would be stating that most people are not healthy.However, there are contradictions even between a book and itself. The book responsible for the theory of the " narurally a little acid body "
states that the acidity of milk lies between " 6.2 and 7.3 " ( therefore, acid or alcaline,which must depend on the calcium concetration, which usually varies with seasons.In spite of that,the same book includes milk among the list of foods which contribute to acidity, without explaing what I did between parentheses ). In these cases , I have used common sense and my personal practical experience ( with my own body ) to choose which information I include in my book. My diet has given excellent results to me and it will probably do the same to most people who adopt it, but celiac ones and people intolerant to lactose should make the necessary adaptations in it.
Psychic and Astral Fluxes of Energy, Telepathy, Magic, Sleep and psychic Combat
There are some energies which, despite not being well spread by the official science, can harm or, less frequently, help people.These are psychic energies proceeding from incarnated spirits ( alive people ) and disincarnated ones ( dead people ). peolple´s thoughts and emotions are projected outwards and can influence other human beings in many ways.Clairvoyant people say that when someone is angry at someone, the first sends red spears which tend to pierce the latter´s aura_ energy field.More specifically, hatred and/or envy energies usually affect the target person´s solar plexus.According to some occult theories,this chakra is responsible for the main functions of the physical body and it can have its work seriously hindered by such energies.
This occurs even if none of the involved people has knowledge of occultism,but, if the attacker has it, he/she can cause even greater harm.
